Getting to Geilo and around

Geilo is easily accessible by car, and there are daily train and bus connections from Oslo and Bergen. The closest airport is at Fagernes.

By car

The shortest route between Oslo and Bergen is rv. 7/fv. 7, and right in the middle of it lies Geilo. Rv. 7/fv. 7 over the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and along the Hardangerfjord is a national tourist route.

You can also reach Geilo by following fv. 50 over the mountains from west to east. The road runs through magnificent nature between Aurland and Hol. From Hol it is 10 kilometres to Geilo.

From Geilo, fv. 40 runs through Numedal, Kongsberg, Larvik and onwards to Tønsberg and Sandefjord.

By train

The train journey along the Bergen Railway goes through some fantastic scenery. On the Bergen Railway you travel in comfort and get to Geilo quickly (three hours and 30 minutes from Oslo/Bergen). The train has five to six departures to and from Geilo daily. The line is operated by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).

By bus

Nor-Way Bussekspress operates a number of buses to/from Geilo, among them the airport bus between Oslo Airport Gardermoen and Geilo.
