Hiking in Villmarksriket Hedmark

Villmarksriket Hedmark offers mountain hikes in Rondane, Dovrefjell, Forollhogna and Gutulia National Parks, and forest walks in the lower regions.

For those who enjoy gentle mountain hikes, the national parks Rondane, Dovrefjell, Forollhogna and Gutulia are ideal choices. If tranquil and beautiful forest walks are more to your liking, then Trysil, Femundsmarka National Park or Finnskogen are fantastic to explore.

A visit to Jutulhogget between Rendalen and Tylldalen is a unique nature experience. Allow a few hours to explore the canyon or the edge of the cliff. Experience the amazing feeling of standing on the edge of the abyss with butterflies in your stomach.

Main season: From when the snow leaves in June until late autumn at the end of September.

Trysilfjellet Mountain (1,132 metres above sea level)
The peak of Trysilfjellet is a popular hiking destination for the entire family, a fine hike with terrific views. The peak is approachable from the mountains on the south or north face.

From Skihytta (820 metres above sea level) on the south face, follow the trail marked with blue dots and signs. This is the shortest route to the summit, but is also the steepest way up.

From the peak you have a fantastic view in clear weather. You will see far into Sweden to the east, Sølen and Rondane to the north, Lake Osensjøen to the west and more. Anyone reaching the summit can take a ticket from the box at the peak and receive a Pass 1,132, a free diploma issued at the Trysil Tourist Information Office in Trysil centre, at the Welcome Centre of Trysil Tourist Centre or Trysil Høyfjellssenter.

Guided hikes available in high season.
