Hiking in FjordKysten

From the Pilgrim's Route to Hornelen, Northern Europe's highest sea cliff, FjordKysten offers a myriad of hiking options in Fjord Norway.

The landscape in FjordKysten is characterised by hundreds of unspoilt islands with tranquil coastal paths, deep fjords and mountain tops that rise straight out of the sea.

A popular trend is to join so called “mountain runs”. There are several available in FjordKysten, for example the Vetenløpet Race that takes place in Bremanger every year in July.

When

All year.

Hiking possibilities

With over 200 hiking trails, there are plenty of options for all ages and abilities, from short walks along the coast with sandy beaches to adventurous excursions on the Ålfoten glacier.

The 15 North Sea Trails are family friendly, easy hikes to peaks with endless views of the coast. More challenging hikes include Hornelen (850 metres above sea level), Lihesten (714 metres) and Blegja (1,305 metres). The highest peak is the Ålfoten glacier in Bremanger at 1,385 metres above sea level.

Another option is the Sail Trail, which combines sailing and hiking to up to five of the most significant peaks in the area in two to five days.

The multi-day Pilgrim Route hike also passes through the region.

Maps are available at local tourist offices and hotels.
