3 days walk Ringebu - Vinstra

Day 1:
•Arrival in the afternoon
•Short walk from Ringebu station to Ringebu Stavchurch
(transport for those who want that)
•Short sightseeing in Ringebu Stavkirke
•Dinner at Prestegarden
•Looking at the Weidemannsamling

Day 2:
•Brekfast+ make our own lunchpack
•The Day´s walk from Ringebu –Harpefoss 23 km
The first stretch goes onwards north along the Panorama Road which, as indicated in its name, is a road with a good view to Våler Bridge.
From the Våler Bridge up through the residential area Kjønas and down towards Bærsveihølen, an old crossing place where the river Frya bursts into a waterfall. Onwards through a pine forest and up
the hillside before you see the pilgrim centre, Dale-Gudbrand’s Farm.This was the old seat for Viking chiefs and the centre of power for Gudrandsdalen in the Viking Era. This is the location of the story of the
meeting between St. Olav and Dale-Gudbrand in 1021, the historical ”Kristningstinget” from Snorre’s Heimskringla.

We continue further on north towards Sygard-Grytting. The route passes Sør-Fron Church from 1692 with unique factors. An octagonal stone church situated in the middle of the route. You go through the vicarage where Ludvig Holberg lived for a period as a child. The vicarage is from the1300s. The day ends at Sygard Grytting where pilgrims have stayed overnight since 1321, documented in an old letter, and perhaps even earlier. Here you will also find a pilgrimsloft or hostel from approx. 1280.

Day 3:
•Breakfast+ make our own lunchpack
•This day’s route takes you to the highest point in the Pilgrims’ Way in Gudbrandsdalen.The walk takes you to Skar approximately 600 metres over sea level through Lauva with burial mounds and a special cultural landscape. There are old crofts here in the shade of the mountain. A “pilgrim’s refuge”, or shelter, has also been built here for pilgrims
and other hikers who need a rest. From here you get a view over Gudbrandsdalen and in towards Jotunheimen. The walk goes onwards through a varied landscape high over Vinstra before a steep descent takes you down to Vinstra station and your return journey.

Prices may vary due to different standard of the places we stay.

All participants must have valid travel insurance, and be fit to walk about 20 km every
day.
