The National Theatre opened in 1899, and is one of Oslo's most important buildings.

If you want to get to know this building and its history better, the theatre offers several types of guided tours. Experienced guides give you a chance to see the theatre in a way the audience seldom gets to see it.

Behind the scenes
The tour starts in the hall and goes through the orchestra dressing room to the actor's foyer, two balconies and the theatre's four stages. The tour ends in the restaurant.

Art tour
Get to know the National Theatre's unique art collection, including  portraits of the country's most famous actors and actresses painted by some of Norway's best artists.

Ibsen tour
Henrik Ibsen is the single person who has had the biggest impact on Norway's national theatre stage over the years. Specialised Ibsen guides will tell you the many stories about Ibsen and the National Theatre.

The tours are conducted between 9 and 10 am or between 4 and 6 pm, and last for approximately one hour.

On the first Saturday of the month, individuals may also join a tour. Tickets are available at the theatre's box offices and by calling tel. (+47) 815 00 811.
