Feigumfossen Waterfall, Luster

The 218 metre high Feigumfossen waterfall is in an idyllic setting on the southern side of the Lusterfjord. You can take the short walk in to the falls or admire the view of it from the National Tourist Route on the northern side of the fjord.
When you drive on highway 55 along the northern side of the Lusterfjord, you will get an excellent view of the Feigumfoss waterfall opposite. The waterfall’s free drop of 218 metres (about 720 feet) makes you perhaps want to explore it at closer range.

When you get to Skjolden, you must follow the narrow, so-called "romantic road" along the southern shores of the Lusterfjord. You stop by the fjord where the Feigeelva river runs into the fjord and continue on foot up to the waterfall. The path takes you over a hilltop, and suddenly the mighty waterfall comes into view - an almost shocking experience. If you keep on climbing all the way to the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the alpine mountains of Hurrungane to the east.

Driving further along the southern shores of the Lusterfjord, you can study the art of stonewalling on old farm buildings along the road, the place where Lerum started his first production of juice, the Munthe house which was a frequent meeting place for the great Norwegian artists in the 19th century, and finally to the Urnes stave church . There you can get some snacks before catching the ferry to cross the fjord to Solvorn and the Walaker Hotel and the art exhibitions at Galleri Walaker. You will certainly not regret this round trip, whether you have Skjolden or Solvorn as starting-points.
