Ål Ski Centre

Ål Ski Centre is situated some seven kilometres from the centre of Ål.

The ski centre has six lifts, and several good slopes from new-beginner to expert. The family area and the lower part of the Svarteberg piste are floodlit. Night skiing Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

There is also a café, ski rental and ski school.

Skarslia Ski and Tobboggan Centre

Located in the Bergsjø area, 25 kilometres from the centre, Skarslia is perfect for families. It offers fantastic sledging hills, well-prepared downhill slopes for adults and children and cross-country tracks up to the mountains.

Sitting in a specially built sledge, you are pulled by lift to the top of the hill. There is a choice of two slopes, of 1.2 kilometres and 1.5 kilometres respectively. There are double sledges for one child and one adult and single sledges for adults and children over 10 years.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts might very well find their dream in Ål. With 386 kilometres of groomed trails running from 450 to 1,250 metres above sea level, Ål offers fantastic possibillities.

The Bergsjø area is a great high mountain area for cross-country enthusiasts.
At Liatoppen you will find a biathlon and cross-country arena. Througout the winter season many competitions are held here and they are the first to prepare the tracks when the season starts.

Flood lit trails for evening skiing at Liatoppen, Ål Ski Centre, Leveld, Vats and in the centre of Ål.

If your family is divided between alpine and cross-country skiing, then both Ål Skicentre and Skarslia Ski- and Tobboggan centre.

Ice fishing

Vatsfjorden and Rødungen are among Eastern Norway's best fishing lakes. Equipped with an ice drill, a woollen blanket, fishing equipment, warm clothing and a hot drink in a thermos flask, you are ready for a tranquil experience on the frozen lake. The ice is normally safe in January, but always ask advice from local experts before you go.

Sleigh rides

A ride in a horse-drawn sleigh under a starry sky is guaranteed to put you in a romantic mood, particularly when it is followed by a sumptuous meal and a relaxing night in front of a real fire.

The equestrian centre Gjeldokk Hestesenter will provide the horses and sleighs.

Dog sledging

Try dog sledging on Lake Rødungen - an activity for the whole family. Maybe you are a group or a company wanting to try something new? This is an experience you will remember for a long time.
