The city centre around Karl Johans gate
This pedestrian precinct is the home of numerous large shopping centres and department stores, such as Oslo City, Byporten, Glasmagasinet, Steen & Strøm, Paléet, Eger Karl Johan and Aker Brygge

The street Akersgata crosses Karl Johans gate and is the home of upscale design retailers such as Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Hugo Boss and Moods of Norway.

Also located in the city centre is House of Oslo, Norway's largest department store specializing in interior design and lifestyle. The street Møllergata is a great place for furniture shopping, while the Grensen area offers a good selection of shoes.

Majorstuen - the streets Bogstadveien and Hegdehaugsveien
Here you will find a good mix of high-end stores and international chains. Stores such as Follestad, Gunnar Øye and Kamikaze specialize in exclusive brands, while Zara, H&M and Vero Moda offer good value on the latest trends. Several brand name stores, including Diesel, Lacoste and Tiger, are also found in this area.

Frogner and Bygdøy Allé
This refined part of Oslo is home to a number of interior design and antique shops. The area also has lots of small, independent and exclusive stores offering everything from underwear to kitchen utensils. Just down the road at Skøyen, you will find many good furniture and interior design stores.

Grünerløkka
Small independent shops with clothes, pottery and handicrafts line the streets in this area. This is the place to look for the latest from young, Norwegian designers.

Grønland
Many of the stores here are run by immigrants, who offer Oslo's best selection of fruits, vegetables and spices. You can also get bargains on exotic textiles and gold here.
