Skiing in winter
Valdres is one of Norway's most attractive winter destinations. More than 1,000 kilometers of prepared cross-country ski trails await the cross-country enthusiast, whilst those who are more interested in speed can challenge themselves in downhill slopes and terrain parks.
During the summer you can choose from a large selection of hiking trips and bicycle routes with different lengts and difficulty, horseback riding, fishing, rock climbing and golf. There are also many other activities for families with children.
Cycling
Experience variations from lush forest trails in the south to open summer farm areas in the west and the steep, breathtaking mountain roads in the north. Most of the cycling routes follow roads and trails where there is little or no traffic.
There are more than 22 marked bicycle routes, and they vary from 11 kilometres to 115 kilometres. Contact the tourist information for a bicycle guide and map for Valdres.
Hiking
Go walking in Jotunheimen National Park with its many 2,000 metre peaks and in the lush, deep valleys. There are many routes to choose from - whether you are looking to hike for many days, or just to spend a few hours embracing the beautiful landscape.
There are a large number of marked hiking routes in the region, many are marked by the Norwegian Trekking Association (indicated by red T-marks).
Fishing
In Valdres, there are more than 3,000 waters and lakes, as well as rivers and streams that are perfect for fishing enthusiasts.
You will need to buy a Fishing in Valdres pass which will give you access to 70 sites all over Valdres. Some of the municipalities also have their own fishing passes. Make sure that you check the regulations in the area you wish to go fishing.
The Fishing in Valdres pass can be bought at the tourist information offices. Everyone over 16, has to buy the local fishing card. Anyone under the age of 16 fishes for free.
Other water activities
Family rafting in the Begna River
This is a family rafting adventure suitable for everyone from the age of five and up. Perfect for beginners or those who appreciate the "nice" currents. The season varies according to the water temperature, but normally you can book a tour in the period between June and mid-September. If you are in the area in July, there are rafting trips every Wednesday and Friday at 5 pm. You will have to call one day in advance to make reservations.

Rafting in Sjoa

Golf
The 9-hole course is located in Aurdal near Fagernes and stays open until 5 October.
Riding
Valdres offers riding for children and adults, beginners and the more experienced, riding camps, mountain riding, dressage and jumping lessons, trekking tours (some riding experience is required), sleigh rides and wedding coaches.
