Camping

There are nearly 20 different camp sites in Valdres, and they are easily accessible from the main roads. Beautifully located, near rivers, lakes or surrounded by mountains. They vary in size and amount of facilities, but most of them have a moderate to high standard.

Nature camping

In many areas of Valdres, you can bring your own tent and camp in the nature, especially for those who are hiking or cycling for several days. Shelters have been built along some of the most popular trails.

If you want more comfort, stay at one of the Norwegian Trekking Association's (DNT) cabins. You can hike from cabin to cabin in Valdres and Jotunheimen. One such cabin is Fondsbu Turisthytte which is a great starting point for many popular hikes – summer and winter.

Summer mountain farms

During you stay in Valdres, you must visit to one of the many open summer farms. They are surrounded  by a breathtaking landscape, and when visiting them, you can take part in their daily routines, interact with the animals, or just enjoy the quiet atmosphere. At some of the summer farms, you can also spend the night and enjoy traditionally cooked meals.

Gamlestølen Farm in Etnedal has cows, sheep, ducks, pigs, hens, chickens and ponies. You can come along when they feed the animals, they have riding for children, and offer many other activities.
