By plane

Thanks to nonstop flights from Copenhagen, Stockholm, Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and London, you only need to change planes once to reach Bergen from far-away destinations. In 2008 Bergen also got a direct flight from several destinations in Japan.

Low-cost airlines also operate direct flights to Bergen from international airports such as Paris, Berlin, Prague, Warszawa, Riga and London.

Airport bus
A shuttle bus departs from/to the airport every 15 minutes Monday - Friday, and every half hour at weekends. The bus stops at the following places in the city centre: Radisson SAS Royal Hotel at Bryggen, Radisson SAS Hotel Norge and the bus station (platform 17). Departures also to/from Åsane and Fyllingsdalen. Travelling time approximately 40 minutes. It may take longer in the rush hour.

By ferry/express boat

Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Voyage)

Bergen is also the turn-around port for the world-famous Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Voyage). Departure from Bergen every night. The journey Bergen - Kirkenes - Bergen takes 11 days.

Transport between Bergen and Oslo

By plane
Daily departures with SAS and Norwegian. Approximate travel time: 50 minutes.

By train
The spectacular train journey between Oslo and Bergen should not be missed. Many people consider the Bergen Railway to be the world's best train ride. There are four daily departures, approximate travel time is seven hours.

By bus
Nor-Way Bussekspress has daily departures between Oslo and Bergen. Approximate travel time: 10 hours.

By car
Bergen - Eidfjord - Gol - Oslo: Rv. 7 Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau. Ferry connection between Bruravik and Brimnes (a 10-minute crossing).
Bergen - Lærdal - Fagernes - Oslo: E16 via the Lærdal Tunnel (no toll).
Distance: 478 kilometres.
