Alpine/snowboard/Telemark

The time period November/December through April usually offers excellent snow conditions in Stryn and Nordfjord. Ski lifts for your preferences are available in Stryn, Gloppen, Eid and Hornindal. However, because of the tall mountains and the special climate you can go skiing almost year round in Stryn and Nordfjord.

Cross-country

Go skiing in vast areas with powder and several kilometres of groomed trails. The area can boast of both national and international trails, which were the arenas for the Nordic Championship in 1996, and the Nordic Junior World Championship in February of 2004.

Backcountry skiing and snowshoeing

The mountains in Stryn and Nordfjord range from a few hundred to about two thousand meters above sea level. Alpine enthusiasts can choose between over 30 different mountain tops. Guided tours are offered by Bergtatt Stryn, Norway AdvenTURes and Briksdal Adventure.

Ski resorts

Stryn Ski Centre 
Located four kilometres Stryn town centre. Two ski lifts: 1,180 and 1,400 metres. Vertical drop of nearly 700 metres. Six runs with different levels of difficulty. Lifts for children. Ski rental. Cafeteria. 300 spaces for parking. Night skiing. Artificial snow production. Two kilometres of illuminated cross-country tracks. Great starting point for exploring the mountain tops in the area.

Skiing complex at Ullsheim, Markane
Ski stadium, 40 kilometres of cross-country tracks. Large park. Flood-lit track. New biathlon park. Artificial snow production. Kiosk/cafeteria. Locker room. Sauna. Well-equipped kitchen. Large preparation room. Function hall available for rent. Arena for the Nordic Championship 1996 and the Nordic Junior World Championship 2004.                 

Nordfjord Fritidssenter, Nordsida
Activity park, cross-country and ski jump. 13 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails, 5 kilometres available for night skiing. Cafeteria open on Sundays. Large ski jump park. Five jumps: K10, K25, K40, K70, K90. Preparation room. A 400-metre long rope lift. Locker rooms, showers. Accommodation. Great starting point for cross-country skiing in the nearby mountains. Arena for the Nordic Championship in 1996 and the Nordic Junior World Championship in 2004.

Harpefossen Ski Centre
Arena for county championships in alpine. Good lift capacity and groomed slopes. Large area for powder runs. Arena for biathlon. Night skiing available for alpine and cross-country.

Breimsbygda Ski Centre
Located 600 metres above sea level. 250 metre vertical drop. Four ski lifts: Two main lifts, one children's lift and one lift suitable for disabled people. Groomed slopes, day-and night skiing available. Pipe and big jump. Three kilometres of groomed cross-country trails, also available at night. Cafeteria. Ski and helmet rental.

Hornindal Ski Centre
Located five kilometres north of Grodås. Cross-country, alpine and ski jump. Two and a half kilometres of groomed cross-country tracks, also available at night.  A 450-metre long rope lift. Excellent groomed slopes in beautiful surroudings.
