E6 is the main transportation artery going through Innherred. The E6 goes right through Steinkjer while it loops around Verdal and Levanger town centres.
If you are driving via Fosen, you may choose to take rv. 795 over the Skarnsundbrua Bridge.
If arriving from the north, you can get to Innherred via Kystriksveien (rv. 17).
From Sweden you can drive via Åre and rv. 72 until you reach the junction with E6 in Verdal. This is a part of the tourist road St. Olavsleden.
The regional train between Steinkjer and Trondheim makes several stops in Innherred. For booking and train timetables, please contact the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).
Nor-Way Bussekspress has a daily service between Trondheim and Namsos with stops at Trondheim Airport Værnes, Åsen, Levanger, Verdal, Sparbu, Røra and Steinkjer.
Local buses
The Trønderbilene bus company operates the local buses. In Verdal and Levanger, they are called "Blåmann" and in Steinkjer they are called "Buster". For more information about local buses, please contact one of the tourist information offices.
The nearest airport is Trondheim Airport Værnes, 50 kilometres south of Levanger. The airport has daily connections with numerous Norwegian cities, as well as Prague, Riga, Copenhagen, London, Stocholm and Amsterdam. New routes are constantly being established.
