Getting to the Arctic Circle Area and around

Take the train from Oslo, fly in from Trondheim or Bodø or drive along the scenic coastal highway (rv. 17) when travelling to the Arctic Circle Area.

By car

Hire a car at AVIS, Hertz, Rent a Wreck or Statoil to experience the area.

You can can follow the scenic coastal highway Kystriksveien (rv. 17) from Steinkjer to Bodø.

Those of you that follow the E6 will first drive in to Korgen before you arrive in Mo i Rana. You can also follow the scenic Wilderness Road from Svenningdal along the E6 via Hattfjelldal and Bleikvassli to Korgen and Mo i Rana.

If you arrive from Sweden you can also follow the Blue Highway (E12) from Umeå and Storuman to Mo i Rana. From Mo i Rana you can follow main roads in all directions to the coast, the mountains or the next town.

By train

From Oslo, Trondheim and Bodø you can take the train to Mo i Rana, Bjerka or Dunderland. For timetables and booking, please contact the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).

By plane

There are daily flights from Trondheim Airport Værnes and Bodø Airport to Mo i Rana Airport Røssvoll with Widerøe. Mo i Rana Airport Røssvoll lies 12 kilometres outside Mo i Rana.

It is also possible to fly from Stockholm-Arlanda Airport to Hemavan Airport in Sweden and then drive, approximately one hundred kilometres). 

By boat

For those who travel with Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Castal Voyage) along Norway's beautiful coast, it is possible to get ashore at Nesna for exciting adventures.

Speed boats and ferries take you out to islands islands such as Tomma, Lovund, Træna, Rødøy and Myken.
