From October to May there are normally snow-covered mountains towards Sweden, and snow free areas along the coast. Choose skiing, kiting, sea kayaking or fishing.

  • Off-piste skiing from mountains, such as Okstindan and Saltfjellet, is one of the area's most popular activities. Ski from glaciers to the beach in just a few minutes.
  • Dog sledging. Join Sirius Expeditions on an unforgettable trip for a couple of hours or several days.
  • Rana Spesialsport can offer almost everything regarding outdoor activities, for example skiing with an experienced guide, kiting, sea kayaking and guided glacier walks on Okstindan and Svartisen.
  • Lille Målvatn Mountain Farm offers snowmobile safaris lasting a couple of hours or several days.
  • Deep-sea fishing in the fjords or along the coast of Helgeland. Book accommodation and boat at one of the high quality fishing camps which are found from Nesna to Rødøy (dinner is included in the price).
  • Ice fishing. Thousands of frozen lakes lay waiting for you.
  • A couple of kilometres to the northwest of Mo i Rana town centre you will find Skillevollen Ski Centre which offers alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and biathlon.
  • Deep-sea kayaking along the beautiful coast of Helgeland where you can experience islands such as Tomma, Lovund, Lurøy and Rødøy.
