The communication routes to the Lofoten Islands and the North Cape meet in the Realm of Hamsun, and the connection to Sweden is also quick and straight forward.

If you are holidaying in the Realm of Hamsun, the conditions are perfect for excursions to Lofoten, Bodø, Narvik and Harstad by a choice of car, cycle or public transport such as bus or express boat.

By car

The European highway E6 goes right through the Realm of Hamsun.
The area is situated halfway between Narvik and Fauske.

If you are driving from Narvik by car, you have to travel by car ferry from Skarberget to Bognes (25 minutes).

If you are driving from Lofoten via Lødingen, you have to travel by car ferry from Lødingen to Bognes (60 minutes).

It is also possible to travel by car ferry directly from Lofoten by car ferry from Svolvær to Skutvik (2 hours).

By aeroplane

Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes
There are daily flights all year between for example Oslo Airport Gardermoen and Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes, flight time is approximately one hour and thirty minutes. For timetables and booking, please contact SAS, Widerøe and Norwegian. There are public buses every day between Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes and the Realm of Hamsun.

Bodø Airport
There are daily flights all year between for example Oslo Airport Gardermoen and Bodø Airport, flight time is approximately one hour and thirty minutes. For timetables and booking, please contact SAS, Widerøe and Norwegian. There are public buses every day between Bodø Airport Evenes and the Realm of Hamsun.

By train

To Narvik
You can travel between Stockholm/Göteborg and Narvik. The route is scheduled daily all year. For timetables and booking, please contact Connex. There are public buses every day between Narvik and the Realm of Hamsun.

To Fauske or Bodø
You can travel between Oslo, Trondheim, Fauske and Bodø. For timetables and booking, please contact the Norwegian State Railways (NSB). There are public buses every day between Bodø and Fauske and the Realm of Hamsun.

By express passenger boat

Express passenger boats are scheduled daily all year around between Bodø – Helnessund – Bogøy – Skutvik – Svolvær. For timetables and booking, please contact Hurtigruten.

Hurtigruten (The Norwegian Coastal Voyage)
The closest Hurtigruten port is Svolvær. Other options include Bodø and Harstad.
