Cross-country skiing in Rauland

Rauland is a superb area for cross-country skiing, with a 140-kilometre long network of well-groomed trails in both the high mountains and in the forests. Approximately 60 kilometres of the net is prepared for free style, the rest is prepared with two double classic tracks.

To ensure a long cross-country season, Rauland has a six-kilometre long floodlit artificial snow trail situated between Rauland Høgfjellshotell and Vierli Turistsenter from the start of November. There is also a continuous lit trail of eight kilometres from Rauland centre to Attføringssenteret. The ski trails are lit daily until 10 pm.

Rauland has a pub and after-ski with a cozy atmosphere, and can offer a lot of exciting activities besides skiing, for instance dog sledging, horse riding, snow rafting, snowmobile rides on a track and a relaxing mountain spa after an active day in the mountains.

Alpine skiing in Rauland

Rauland Skisenter
Rauland Skisenter is perfect for beginners, families and young people. The ski resort covers a large area from Rauland Høgfjellshotell to Holtardalen, and it is the largest ski resort in Rauland with 26 ski slopes and 10 lifts, including 2 chair lifts. Here you can ski and explore new slopes the whole day.

There are special ski slopes and lifts for the children, a snowboard park with a big jump, many jumps and rails. You can also go off-piste skiing here.

The ski resort has several eating places, good parking and a lot of activities throughout the season, such as competitions, concerts and after-ski. Rauland Skisenter has ski and snowboard hire, and at the ski school you can chose private or group instructions for alpine skiing, snowboard and telemark.

Rauland Skisenter is situated six kilometres from the village centre, in the direction of Rjukan.

Vierli Skisenter
Vierli Skisenter has 5 ski lifts and 11 ski slopes with varying difficulties, so whether  you are young or old, an expert alpine skier or a novice, you will find the right challenge here.

Swag Vierli Terrengpark is one of Norway's top terrain parks for snowboard and twin tip. The terrain park is Swag's first and only terrain park, and here you will find rails, monster jumps, big jumps, quarter pipe, quarter wall, oil barrels, 10 jumps with varying difficulties and a 12-metre rail over a buried bus and the big air bag. Every Wednesday and Saturday the terrain park is floodlit from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Vierli Skisenter has its own activity area for the children offering for instance a slow moving ski tow, mogul skiing slopes, jumps, mini rails, children toboggans, trampolines, igloos and a Sami tent. There is plenty of outdoor seating places.

The Vierli Activity Card includes three rounds with a mini snowmobile and a four-wheel, mini toboggan and more. Adults accompanying the children need a lift card. The activities start at 2 pm.

Vierli Skisenter has carving skies, snowboards, snowblades and cross-country skis for hire, and offers ski lessons for both children and adults.

At Vierli Skisenter you will also find Norway's largest toboggan centre, with three special toboggan slopes. Here you can hire all the necessary tobogganing equipment to ensure you an optimal experience.

Vierli Skisenter is situated 11 kilometres from the village centre, in the direction of Rjukan.

Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter
"Tougher, steeper and more fun" is this ski resorts slogan, so Raulandsfjell is definitely the place for the more advanced skiing family. Here you will find challenges for both young and old, with a combination of tough black slopes, red slopes and children slopes.

Two children slopes give the children space to frisk about in the snow, and figures and sticks in the slope make the skiing experience even more fun! Both ski lifts start close to the children's ski slopes, so you can easily monitor your children in between exploring the different ski slopes.

New off-piste slopes have been cleared, so you can go snowboarding or skiing outside prepared slopes. Raulandsfjell definitively offers the steepest and most demanding ski slopes in Rauland.

Raulandsfjell has both skis and snowboards for hire. Artificial snow is spurted out when needed.

If you need a break from skiing, Raulandsfjell can offer both snowmobile and foue-wheel drives at the bottom of the ski slopes after closing. You can also go ice skating at Raulandsfjell Skating Rink. Raulandsfjell has a restaurant, a cabin where you can get warm and accommodation. Large outdoor parking facilities, free of charge.

Every Monday and Friday there is evening skiing at Raulandsfjell.

Raulandfjell is situated five kilometres from the village centre, in the direction of Haukeligrend.

Rauland Skisenter, Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter and Vierli Skisenter have a joint lift pass, and there is a free ski bus connecting the three ski resorts.
