Mini golf
At Haugen Hytteutleie og Camping you can play a nine-hole mini golf course. When you have become good, why not try the real golf course at Kvæven?
Golf
Play golf at the new nine-hole golf course at Kvæven. The Sira River runs through the course, and the majestic Hilleknuten Peak (1,209 metres above sea level) can be viewed from the course. A gravel pathway with picnic areas aligns the course, a nice walk if you do not wish to play golf.
Feeding friendly polar dogs
At Runtleneset Aktivitetsgard you may assist in feeding the cute and friendly polar dogs. The farm offers this activity every Wednesday throughout July.
Nordic walking
Sirdal has got many trails that are suitable for Nordic walking, so why not combine training with a tour in our beautiful surroundings? Poles can be rented at the local tourist office at Kvæven.
Climbing
Sirdal has over one hundred bolted routes for climbing. The largest ones are located in Hunnedalen, Liland and Sirekrok. The latter one being the most popular one.
Hiking
The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) has a network of waymarked trails in the Sirdal and its area.hiking trail network (20 000 km). This network is well developed in Sirdal and its neighbouring mountain regions.
If you wish to stay overnight in a cabin whilst hiking, DNT and Statskog have many cabins to choose from. The cabins in Sirdal are either self-service or no service cabins. The self service cabins are equipped with all the gear and equipment you need for cooking and sleeping (including food). The no service cabins the same, but you need to bring your own food. If you are staying with Statskog you will also need to bring food as well as your own sleeping bag.
You can stay in the DNT cabins even as a non member. You pay by filling out a credit card form at the cabin. Most DNT cabins are unlocked in the period mid-June to late September. Some cabins however, will require a universal key which can be obtained by contacting DNT.
Statskog require pre-booking. In Sirdal the keys can be collected at the Fjellbutikken grocery store in Suleskar. Statskog's cabins are mostly outside the marked trail network of DNT, therefore map, compass and GPS reading skills are required.

Fishing
Sirdal offers fun trout fishing. Choose from over 100 lakes and rivers, take part in a fishing competition, and win fishing gear. All you need to do is to buy a license and go fishing. For freshwater fishing you must have a licence. This can be paid at the local tourist office, post office and petrol station, or online at Inatur.
Canoeing
A range of camp sites offer rental of canoes and kayaks.
ATV safaris
Sirdal Høyfjellshotell offers ATV safaris between Sirdal and the Eagle's Nest Restaurant. A three-hour trip on the narrow Suleskarvegen Road towards Lysebotn. Lunch at the Eagle's Nest Restaurant.
Biking
At Ådneram and Haugen you will find two narrow paved roads that are ideal for cycling into or along the different conservation areas. Enjoy the untouched nature. Distance: 24 - 30 kilometres.
Guided tours on Lake Sirdalsvatn
The guide will focus on historical points of interest. Every Wednesday from July to August.
Guided tours of the Tonstad Power Station
Norway is among the few countries in the world which mainly rely on the supply of hydro electrical power. Sira Kvina represents one of the largest hydro electrical power developments in Norway, and Tonstad is Norway's capital of hydro electrical power development.
Guided tours of Tonstad power station are offered twice a week during the summer season, and there is a fair/event in Tonstad every year with hydro electrical power as its theme.
Events in Sirdal
Summer feast at Sageneset Camping - 16 August 2008
You are welcome to the annual summer fest at Sageneset Camping. Jet-Zet will entertain, and there will be a BBQ. The fest starts at 8 pm. Price: NOK 200 per person.
Haymaking day - 22 August 2008
At Sirdal Mountain Museum you have the opportunity to attend or watch traditional haymaking. The event starts at 9 am, and is free of charge.
Unique concert inside the Tjørhom Powerstation - 22 August 2008
Do not miss the opportunity to hear a live concert inside the mountain. The famous Norwegian artists Kristen Bråten Berg, Annbjørg Lien, Bjørn Ole Rasch and Steinar Ofsdal will perform. Price: NOK 250 (adults) and 150 (children).
Sirdalsdagane, “the sheep fairy tail” in Sirdal - 5 - 7 September 2008 Ensure to be present in Sirdal when 5,000 sheep are collected from the mountains, where they have been grazing all summer, and brought down to Kvæven. Here they are fenced off during the night, separated and sent home to their respective owners early the next morning.
To celebrate this tradition, there is a market, entertainment for children and adults alike, feasts, concert and lots more.
