Shopping centres
The shopping areas in the city centre of Ålesund are Kipervika, Skansen and Aspøya. These three areas are each distinctive in their own way.
At Aspøya you will find traditional shops selling building materials/DIY and hardware goods, and several small specialist interior and design shops.
You will find Ålesund's pedestrian street at Skansen.
Kipervika has range of specialist art and arts and crafts shops. The city's Kiperviktorget Market, with stalls selling flowers, fruit and all kinds of curios, lies in the same area.
There are two shopping centres in Ålesund city centre with many kinds of shops, as well as attractive cafés and restaurants.
The Moa shopping area, 10 kilometres from the town centre, attracts shoppers from near and far. It has one of Norway’s largest shopping centres, the biggest between Bergen and Trondheim.
Shopping at the coast and in the fjord areas
Explore the variety of shops in the small towns of Volda, Fosnavåg and Ulsteinvik. Knitted jumpers and cardigans, glassware, ceramics, gold and silver and local arts and crafts are among the most popular articles. The shops also have a good assortment of other goods such as fashion wear, electrical goods, books and music. A number of museums and other tourist attractions also sell souvenirs and arts and crafts.
