When the clouds are covering the ocean with a colourful, heavenly carpet, and the midnight sun is at its lowest, this is one of the most special places on earth. You do not get further north on mainland Europe - you are at the end of the world.

Northern lights

The North Cape, which lies in the vast county of Finnmark, is one of many good places in Northern Norway to see the northern lights.

See slideshow with pictures of the northern lights.

Visitor's centre

At the North Cape you will find a visitors' centre with modern facilities. In addition to the famous "Children of the World" monument, there is a museum and a restaurant here.

The first tourist came here in 1664, and a stream of curious visitors has followed ever since. People from all parts of the world spend days and weeks travelling to come here to experience the freedom and closeness to the cold north.
