The first major assembly took place in Bergen in 1163, when Magnus Erlingsson was crowned King of Scandinavia. Naturally Bergen has been playing host ever since, not out of a sense of duty, but because of the city’s genuinely hospitable nature.
An added attraction for conference organisers is the wide selection of activities and excursions in Bergen and its surrounding area.
Bergen’s location, surrounded by seven mountains, makes it strikingly attractive and provides an element of intimacy. The city is also surrounded by one of the world’s greatest tourist attractions, the Norwegian fjords. Often referred to as their 'gateway', Bergen is a natural starting point for exploring this exciting landscape.
