The hotels in Lillehammer have hosted events for many years, while the complex built for the Winter Olympics lends itself to a multitude of uses. Many of the local hotels have opted to specialise in meetings, offering excellent facilities and will also arrange activities for your guests.
An intimate city
Lillehammer is a small, quaint city, with a tremendous amount of events, activities and attractions. It has all the amenities of a major city, yet is wonderfully intimate and is the perfect venue for meetings and events.
Although Lillehammer has a population of only 26,000, it still has a lively après ski scene and the pedestrian street Storgata is lined with bars, restaurants and nightclubs as well as excellent shops. In this remarkably compact town, it is easy for delegates to stay as a group and all hotels are in close proximity to the arenas.
Outdoor activities
A wide range of adventures, some certain to provide an adrenaline rush, is available. The nearby mountain areas of Hafjell, Kvitfjell, Skeikampen, Nordseter and Sjusjøen, provide a more casual alternative to the city’s cultural attractions and events, offering a unique combination of urban and mountain life.
The Lillehammer region boasts a multitude of activities suitable for your event. With five Olympic arenas it is also home to Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track. This is northern Europe’s only artificially refrigerated bob sleigh and luge track, and activities including bob rafting and taxi bob are available during the winter. In summertime wheel-bob rafting is possible.
Romantic steam boat
During the summer you can enjoy a romantic steam boat journey on Lake Mjøsa with Skibladner Paddle Steamer. She is the pride of Norway's inland, and one of Norway's best-loved tourist attractions. The preserved and restored paddle steamer is over 150 years old but continues to run a timetabled service in the summer months and can be chartered for special tours.
Maihaugen the open-air museum
Visit Maihaugen, the open-air museum, and enjoy some traditional cuisine. Maihaugen is one of the most important open-air museums in Scandinavia and the main attraction in Lillehammer, with 200 old and new buildings, exhibitions, cafes and restaurants. It is the perfect location for activities and cultural events and also has a conference hall and meeting rooms in the main building.
Hafjell Bike Park
During the summer months Hafjell Alpine Centre turns into Hafjell Bike Park! Since opening in 2001, it has exploded into a world-class arena. Create a competition for your guests with downhill, cross country and trail riding all possible. Enjoy a ride in the Hafjell Gondola, which is the perfect entrance to the scenic Øyer mountain plateau.
Oldest winter resort in Norway
Lillehammer is considered to be the oldest winter resort in Norway, and is often the base for both national and international company games, meetings and events.
When you consider the number of activities and outdoor pursuits available year-round, you have all the ingredients for a successful meeting or conference. Nothing is too large or too small. Lillehammer can offer something for everyone.
