Viking for a day

If you are curious about the determination, urge to discover and seamanship of the Norwegian Vikings, explore their fascinating customs as a meeting incentive. Forget the stereotypical Viking helmets with horns – this is the real thing. Be a Viking for a day!

This full day incentive suggestion is packed with fun activities and ends in true Viking style with a genuine feast.

Start by following the paths of the Vikings by boat, during a one hour trip on the old sloop Johanne Karine at the Inner Quay in Haugesund. The guide will tell you some hair-raising stories to make sure everyone gets in the right mood for the rest of the day.

Axe throwing and bow and arrow

In the reconstructed Viking village at Avaldsnes, Karmøy Kulturopplevelser will engage the participants in various Viking activities such as axe throwing and bow and arrow. Avaldsnes is located by Nordvegen, the strait between Karmøy and Haugesund. This is where Viking chieftains levied tolls on passing ships for over 3,000 years. It was also here that King Harald the Fairhair reunited Norway and established the country’s first throne. While the Viking feast is prepared, you can try mead in the Viking longhouse.

A fifteen minute walk through the cultural landscape brings you to Nordvegen History Centre. This is a modern history centre for those who want to immerse themselves further in Viking history.

Price example (2014)

From NOK 2,000 per person for a full day program including boat trip, activities and dinner. The activities are suitable for all. The price is based on a group of 20 people and is subject to change.
