Description

Distance: 4km there and back.
Estimated time to the top: 25 minutes
Suitable for: Most people.
Start and finish: Drive to Aunfjellet (approx 8km northwest of Harstad). Keipen is on the left hand side of the road on top of Aunfjellet. There are three lakes on the right hand side. Turn left by the third lake into the car park. Map available at the tourist office.
Necessary equipment: None.
Map: Walking map for Vesterålen-Hinnøya (Statens kartverk 1:100 000)
Marked trail: No. Good path.
Drinking water: Lake Keipen.
Route description: Good trail to the top. Rolling birch ground and a little marshy at the start. The trail rises at an angle to the top, where you will find a hearth at the idyllic Lake Keipen. Continue on the right hand path of the lake and up to the next plateau, where you will find a steep escarpment descending into the sea. Fantastic views to the west and the opportunity to see the Midnight Sun!
