Description

Dog sledding near Røros (Roros)

You will drive your own team of 5-6 friendly, hard working Alaskan Huskies. The guide drives the first team, and the participants’ teams will follow. You do not need previous experience from dog sledding, just the will to experience something new and exciting.

Alaskan Husky Tours is owned by Ketil Reitan and his wife Evelyn Anyuyak, who is inuit from Alaska. Ketil has been hunting and driving dog team in Alaska for 7 years and has a 10th place in the Iditarod race (1800 km). He was also the leading dog driver in BBC’s reconstruction of the race to the South Pole between Amundsen and Scott.

Alaskan Husky Tours offer half day trips, day trips and events for groups of 100 persons. We have dog cart trips in the summer and fall on beautiful old gravel roads. We have canoe and kayak trips, fishing, fly fishing and cooking courses in the wilderness. Snowshoe trips and team ski competitions are popular activities for groups.
Gourmet meals prepared over the fire in the lavvo (cone shaped tent) by professional chefs from the hotel. We have a small lavvo and a big lavvo for up to 130 persons.

We tell about dog sledding, how we train the dogs, the environment and our adventures in Alaska and Arctic regions.

We live in a beautiful wilderness area 20 minutes from Roros which has railroad and direct flights from Oslo in the morning and evening.
The kennel has a dressing room with handicap toilet and winter coveralls, winter boots, mittens and winter hats for 100 persons.
