Description

The tour starts from the centre of Kirkenes at 9 am. There is a visa and passport control before and after crossing the russian border. As we drive towards Pechenga our guide will tell you interesting history of this area: colonising of the territories along the border, changing of nationalities, wars and the nowadays situation.

Nikel is a city built to take care of the mining resources in the area. We will drive trough the city, as well as visit its museum that visualises some of the themes of our trip. Next stop is Zapoljarny (30 km from Nikel) and lunch is at 1pm, Norwegian time, at Hotel Pechenga in Zapoljarnyj City. The rest of the day is left for shopping and sightseeing. We will visit the market and other shops. It is possible to do a bargain - the Russian crystal is very cheap! Arrival to Kirkenes is approximately 6 pm Norwegian time.
