Recommended advice
Alternative access to the route can be by the gas station, the camping area, the Spar grocery shop, or Uskedal school. It is steep for wheelchairs and baby carriages from Kjærlandsvegen to Dønhaug. An alternative choice of route might be to turn towards Dønhaug gardsbarnehage (Farm Kindergarden) and use the road above the barn. Be cautious when crossing highway 48.

Overview
Follow the signs from the marina. This is a Easy hike, passing a swimming area (beach), grazing animals, and old, characteristic housing. From Dønhaug there is a wide view over the town, Storsundet, Skorpo and the Hardanger Fjord. This hike is suited for getting to know Uskedal and the surrounding area.

If conditions deteriorate so much that you doubt you can attain your goal, turn around and return.

9. Conserve energy and build a snow shelter if necessary
The stronger the wind, the tougher the walking/skiing. Suit your speed to the weakest member of the party.
