Cross-country skiing in Gol

Gol and Golsfjellet offer 250 kilometres of well-prepared cross-country tracks in family-friendly surroundings, 900 metres above sea level.

Enjoy an active holiday in the mountain area of Golsfjellet, a varied terrain perfect for families. Here you can sleep in comfortable accommodation with ski tracks just outside the door. Bring your own food and warm up in one of the many grill cabins you will find locally - they are free to use.

When

Gol enjoys a long season lasting from November to May.

Terrain

You will find more than 160 kilometres of well-prepared cross-country ski tracks at Golsfjellet, all in family-friendly terrain, with no hazardous or difficult areas. The tracks are well suited for both classic and free style, and are surrounded mostly by high mountains, but also by forest and lakes.

Ski after dark

Solseter has five kilometres of tracks that are floodlit until 10 pm every night. You will also find two kilometres of floodlit ski tracks in the centre of Gol.

Off-piste skiing

Not available in Gol.

Accessibility

There are two ski lifts to bring you up on the top. 

Ski hire

Storefjell Resort Hotel, Oset Høyfjellshotell and Kamben Høyfjellshotell all rent out cross-country equipment. Prices for an adult range from 150 NOK for a day, 230 NOK for two days  and 420 NOK for a week.

Accommodation

There is a good variety of accommodation options right next to the ski tracks. Kamben HøyfjellshotellOset Høyfjellshotell and Storefjell Resort Hotel in Golsfjellet are all great starting points for a skiing holiday. The hotels also offer other activities like sledding, as well as different indoor activities. At Ørterstølen Fjellstue you will find cabins and apartments of all sizes, comfortable and typical Norwegian.

All the tracks are well marked, and maps are available. You can also find suggestions for round trips, or go on an organised trip with a guide.
