Recommended places to eat in Hemsedal

Kjøkken Kroken is a restaurant with a great atmosphere, located in the centre of Hemsedal. They offer good value, tasty, local food all year round. In 2010 they were named as one of the eight best eating places along Norwegian roads in the competition "Ganefart".

Peppes Pizza is a safe bet for families with children and is right in the centre at Fanitullen.

Other good, well-known eating places in the centre of Hemsedal are Hemsedal Café and Skogstad Hotell. There are also pleasant, centrally located cafés in both Hovtun and Rampa Shopping centres.

Golfstua at Grøndalen Golf Course is open from May until well into October and is a meeting place for golfers and others. This is a pleasant spot to pop into for a coffee, an ice cream or a light meal.

Fossheim Hotel in Ulsåk has a first-class kitchen and a pleasant atmosphere. The ingredients used are mainly locally grown produce.

Skarsnuten Hotel is located like an eagle’s nest 1,000 metres above sea level, with a wonderful view over Hemsedal and the surrounding mountains. During winter at Skarsnuten you can enjoy a good dinner in the restaurant or out on the terrace. 

If you want to try local dishes in a local atmosphere, why not visit Anne at Ulsåkstølen Fjellstugu, located just below the mighty Skogshorn Mountain. Here you can see how life has been on a mountain farm over the past 100 years, join a baking day, buy cheese, sour cream and butter from the farm and enjoy coffee, "rømmegrøt" (porridge made from natural sour cream) and other local specialities.
