Getting to Horten and around

Horten can be accessed from three airports, and three train stations also serve the area. Ferry and bus connections are good, as is the road network.

By car

Horten is located 88 kilometres south of Oslo. From Oslo follow the E18 south and then either Rv310 or Rv306 to Horten.

By ferry

The Bastø ferries, which link Moss in Østfold to Horten in Vestfold, make up Norway's busiest ferry route. Travel time is 30 minutes, and the ferries run throughout the day.

Color Line has several ships docking close to Horten.

By plane

Oslo Airport Torp  (Sandefjord) is 35 minutes away, and is the closest airport serving Horten. The other two are Oslo Airport Rygge  in Moss, on the other side of the Oslofjord (but only 45 minutes away) and Oslo Airport Gardermoen, north of Oslo, 1 ½ hour drive away. All have several domestic and international flights.

By train or bus

There is a good train and bus network too. For timetables please contact the Norwegian State Railways  (NSB), Vestviken kollektivtrafikk (VKT), Nor-Way Bussekspress or the local tourist information Visit Horten.
