The coastal path from Stavern to Helgeroa

The longest marked coastal path in Norway stretches 35 kilometres from Stavern to Helgeroa. The Brunvall Farm is located along this path.

The Brunvall Farm

The Brunvall Farm offers apartments, rooms and places for tents and caravans. The small café is open daily in July and can offer ice cream, coffee, tea, homemade waffles, newspapers and fresh bread and wheat rolls in the morning

The coastal path

The coastal path wanders through ebullient forest, over bare rocks, vegetated inlets and windblown points. You will find impressive rock formations dating back to the iron-age. The hiking season lasts from the end of March until end of October. The path can be done in one day, but two days is recommended to enjoy it fully. Brochure and book about the path are sold at the tourist office and in bookshops. A leaflet with maps of the trails can be obtained at the Brunvall Farm. The path is marked with blue signs.

Getting here and around

Stavern is one of the smallest cities in Norway and is situated eight kilometres south west of Larvik.

Larvik is situated 135 kilometres south west of Oslo. The train from Oslo takes two hours. Sandefjord Airport, Torp is situated 30 kilometres from Larvik. Color Line runs the ferry connection to Hirtshals in Denmark all year round. It is also possible to travel with bus from Oslo to Stavern.

Stavern  –  The Brunvall Farm

  • Distance: 15 kilometres
  • Time:  4,5 hours
  • Recommended stop:  Fredriksvern Verft, a large naval port. Minnehallen (The remembrance Hall) a monument to fallen seamen. Brochure and book about the path are sold at the tourist office and in bookshops. A leaflet with maps of the trails can be obtained at the Brunvall Farm. The path is marked with blue signs. Suitable to medium hikers.


Helgeroa  –  The Brunvall Farm

  • Distance: 18 kilometres
  • Time:  5,5 hours
  • Recommended stop: Mølen, part of the first UNESCO European Geopark in Scandinavia. Nevlunghavn, this little fishing town has managed to preserve its original character and has been placed on the United Nations list of places worthy of preservation. Brochure and book about the path are sold at the tourist office and in bookshops. A leaflet with maps of the trails can be obtained at the Brunvall Farm. The path is marked with blue signs. Suitable to medium hikers.
