Winter in Sandefjord

In winter you can combine urban life with skiing or ice skating just outside Sandefjord.

Recent winters have been generous with snow in Sandefjord. This has not always been the case in the past, although a winter rarely goes by without offering opportunities for winter sports.

The ski resort of Svartstad, about 45 minutes by car from Sandefjord's centre, boasts several runs and lifts for skiers big and small. If you prefer winter without skis there is still room for great nature experiences as ice, water and colours interact to create beautiful sights everywhere – a delight for photographers.

There are several trails to choose from and special ski facilities for children. Please note that you need to bring your own equipment, as there is no rental available.

Ice skating

The main ice skating facility is in Bugårdsparken, an activity area open all year round, located about two kilometres from the town centre. Facilities here include a path around the Bugårdsdammen pond, a children's play area, a swimming hall and skating rinks for ice hockey and speed skating. You need to bring your own skates.
