Hiking in the Fjell & Fjord region

Three of Norway’s national parks, 10,000-year old glaciers and the highest mountain plateau in northern Europe make this a world-class walking region.

The region of mountains and fjords between Oslo and Bergen starts at Norefjell in the east and undulates through Hallingdal, over mountain plateaus, through national parks, and down to the beautiful Hardangerfjord and Sognefjord.

Explore the national parks of Hardangervidda, Folgefonna and Hallingskarvet. Be impressed by the open plains with their panoramic views of Hardangervidda, Norway’s largest national park. Join a guided glacier walk. Discover Aurlandsdalen Valley, a spectacular walk from the mountains to the Sognefjord – the hike Norwegians all talk about!

When

The hiking season in Fjell & Fjord stretches from May to October. In the early season the fjord region starts to blossom and in June you can hike in the mountains amongst snow covered peaks.
