Scenic attractions in the Fjell & Fjord region

The Fjell & Fjord region gives you the perfect combination of fjords, mountains, waterfalls and glaciers.

The Nærøyfjord – a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The stunning Nærøyfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, is only 250 metres wide at its narrowest. In 2005 it was given a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List along with destinations such as the Victoria Falls in Zambia and the Great Wall of China. National Geographic Magazine has referred to the Nærøyfjord "the world's best preserved tourist destination".

The Flåm Railway

Experience the Flåm Railway – a remarkable train ride from Flåm at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord to the high mountain railway station of Myrdal. From Myrdal you can continue on the scenic Bergen Railway.

The Hardangerfjord

In May, the whole of Hardanger is in bloom. Hundreds of thousands of fruit trees transform the region with their wonderful pink and white flowers. The harvest starts in late summer, when you can enjoy the most delicious apples, plums and cherries.

The mountain area of Hallingdal and Norefjell

Hallingdal has a wild, untouched landscape with beautiful mountains and plateaus. Despite the wilderness, the nature is well adapted with working high mountain farms and excellent conditions for hiking, cycling and fishing. The Bear Park and the EKT Langedrag Nature Park are great for exploring the Norwegian fauna.

Norefjell, one of Norway's most easily accessible mountain areas, only an hour from Oslo, offers beautiful lakes, historic mines and a mountain area with broad panorama views over large parts of Eastern Norway.

Waterfalls and glaciers

The water flowing down from the mountains into the fjords creates a number of beautiful waterfalls, such as the Vøringsfossen Waterfall.

Hardangerjøkulen and Folgefonna are two glaciers that you can visit on guided walks.
