Scenic attractions in the Fjell & Fjord region

The Fjell & Fjord region gives you the perfect combination of fjords, mountains, waterfalls and glaciers.

The Nærøyfjord – an UNESCO World Heritage Site

National Geographic Magazine has voted the Nærøyfjord "the world’s best preserved tourist destination". This beautiful fjord is a branch of the Sognefjord, and at its narrowest it is only 250 metres wide.

In 2005 it was given a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List along with destinations such as the Victoria Falls in Zambia and the Great Wall of China.

The Flåm Railway

Experience the Flåm Railway – an incredible train ride between Flåm at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord up to the high mountain railway station of Myrdal. From Myrdal you can continue on the scenic Bergen Railway.

The Hardangerfjord

In May, all of Hardanger is in bloom. Hundreds of thousands of fruit trees colour the region with their pink and white flowers. The harvest starts in late summer, allowing you to enjoy the absolutely delicious apples, plums and cherries.

The mountain area of Hallingdal

Hallingdal is surrounded by beautiful mountains and high mountain plateaus with excellent opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and riding. Relax in the peaceful nature and gain new energy.

Waterfalls and glaciers

As the water crashes down from the mountains into the fjords, it produces a number of beautiful waterfalls, such as the Vøringsfossen Waterfall.

Hardangerjøkulen and Folgefonna are two of the glaciers which you can visit on guided walks.
