Freshwater fishing in Trysil

Try fly fishing in the rivers or test your luck for trout or pike. Trysilelva River is especially good for grayling.

In Trysil you will find activities organised for different levels of fishing. 
A fishing license gives you access to almost 100 rivers and lakes.

Trysil has most of the common freshwater species you find in Norway. The main river Trysilelva is well known for the grayling fishing. Trout, whitefish and pike are also something you find. There are dedicated waters for pike fishing and a seven kilometre long fly fishing zone with a bag limit.

Records

In 2008 there were several reports about graylings larger than 50 cm and the biggest reported pike weighed 10,8 kilos. Concerning the whitefish there are weekly reports about catches of mort than 1,5 kilos. The largest catch reported was on of 2,8 kilos. In one of Trysil's many lakes the largest trout reported was caught in July for 1,8 kilos

The season is good a short period in May for pike and trout. Trysil has a good fishing from around 20 June to 15 July when the Danica is hatching. Fishing in the main river is difficult in July and parts of August, but try the smaller rivers or one of many lakes. Fishing in October is not recommended.
