History and culture

In Setesdal you will find living silver handicraft and musical traditions. In natural surroundings or at exhibitions, there are minerals from "the beginning of time". Iron production from the Viking Age, local building styles, art and handicraft are on display in the local museums.

Geography

The landscape varies from rich, green lowlands to wild and beautiful mountains. The road passes through many villages; new vistas await around every bend. Choose peaceful days relaxing by your cabin, swim in the lake or raft the foaming rapids. Enjoy the wonderful hiking terrain and numerous other attractions.

Winter

In winter the two northernmost municipalities offer a wide range of activities. The Brokke Alpine Centre is situated in Valle while Hovden is the largest and best-known winter destination in the valley.

• The southernmost population of wild reindeer in Europe roams the Setesdal Vesthei Ryfylkeheiane conservation area.
