Sirdal is a reliable ski destination snow wise. Most ski fields are located at 500-1,000 metres, and all are equipped with modern snow-making systems. The season normally starts in late November and lasts until Easter/late April.
Alpine skiing and snowboarding
Ålsheia is the largest ski resort in Sirdal with 15 slopes and six T-bar lifts. Ålsheia has its own ski play area for children, café and ski rental, as well as a park with jumps and rails.
Tjørhomfjellet is the newest ski resort in Sirdal, and offers one chair lift, two platter lifts as well as a tow rope for children. The ski slopes at Tjørhomfjellet are long and enjoyable, and are suitable for skiers at all levels. Near the main slope there is an off-piste powder bowl for the more advanced skiers.
Tjørhomfjellet has its own ski play area for children, with a cosy wood-fired teepee, ideal for hot drink breaks. Near the chairlift you find the ski field café where après-ski is offered in the afternoon. Tjørhomfjellet also has its own ski rental.

Ski school
Sirdal Ski & Snowboard School offers daily classes in snowboarding, slalom, telemark skiing and cross-country skiing. All the instructors are certified. The classes will be customised to suit your needs. Choose between private and group lessons.

Cross-country skiing
Sirdal is very good for cross-country enthusiasts, with 200 kilometres of groomed and marked winter trails.
Sirdal has four main areas where you can cross-country ski in groomed and marked trails:
- Ådneram - Suleskar
- Fidjeland - Tjørhom
- Tonstad - Josdal
- Mydland

Sirdal offers three different floodlit trails/ski arenas:
- Feed ski arena is located only four kilometres from Tonstad, and is a modern competition arena for cross-country and biathlon. In summer, three kilometres are paved for roller skiing.
- At Tjørhom you will find three kilometres of floodlit tracks open from 5 pm on weekdays, and 10 am on weekends and during school holidays.
- Between Haugen and Kvæven you find 2.5 kilometres of floodlit tracks.
In addition to the marked and groomed trails, the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) puts out trail markers in the wilderness so you can go ski-touring to their cabins and sleep there. Map, compass and extensive outdoor experience are a must on these trips.
Winter without skis
Other than skiing, there are several other activities to enjoy in Sirdal in winter.
Dog sledding
Imagine steering your own dog sledge into the wilderness. Tour options include:
- Ring trail around Sirdal Husky Farm. Suitable for families with a light meal included. Total duration: Three hours. Price: NOK 500 per person (children 4 - 10 years half price).
- Day trip for three to five persons. The route and destination are chosen depending on the weather and snow conditions. The trip ends with a light meal at Sirdal Husky Farm. Price: NOK 2,000 per person.
- Day trip for three to five persons. The trip ends with wood-fired sauna and hot tubs, in addition to a three-course dinner at Sirdal Husky Farm. Price: NOK 2,750 per person.
- Dog sledding including one to three night's accommodation in a tent or cabin. Suitable for three to five persons. Price: from NOK 3,250 per person.
Swimming
Do you want a break from being outside in the snow? Try swimming at the Sirdal Høyfjellshotel, Tonstad pool or at the Sageneset Feriesenter.
Sirdal Fjellmuseum
Visit the Sirdal Fjellmuseum, where you can watch a 180-degree panoramic film of Sirdal.
