Mandal

Mandal is white painted wooden houses in charming narrow streets, river and beaches, forest and nature. Mandal is the Southernmost city in Norway.

During the day, the city is perfect for shopping. Visit the shopping center or take a walk through the charming and lively pedestrian area. Here you will find the chain stores, but also a variety of specialty shops filled with treasures. Norsk Flid Husfliden Mandal offers nice Norwagian suvernies.

Festivals and concerts

On Wednesdays concerts will be held, a local band plays cover tunes for all musical tastes. This is the perfect time to meet the locals over a cold beer in the summer heat.

The second weekend in August the Seafood Festival is held in Mandal. The festival is a mixture of gastronomic adventures, contests and concerts. The Seafood Festival is a yearly event, and if you want to se Mandal this is the time to visit.

Frech air and activities in the city

Mandal has a guest harbour in the city and the country's most beautiful archipelago, here there are good opportunities for islet trips, fishing and crab picking.

A city surrounded by beautiful countryside is perfect for a bike ride. If you are going to Furulunden you will see a forest that is surrounded by over two kilometers of beautiful beaches. The area is ideal for long, lazy days in the sun and swimming activities.

The most famous beach is Sjøsanden, and close to Kanelstranden (The Cinnamon Beach), Lordens and Stumpestrendene. Furulunden has excellent roads that are perfect for a bike ride, there are many playgrounds along the way so it is perfect for children. You may also be lucky enough to hit a deer or two in the woods.

Lindesnes Lighthouse

Lindesnes Lighthouse is the southernmost lighthouse in Norway and located about 45 minutes by car from the city center of Mandal. We highly recommend a stop at the Lighthouse. The lighthouse stands majestically on the mountain close to the sea and when the storm sets in and nature shows strength, it is wonderful to be at Lindesnes. You can reasonably accommodated in the old lighthouse provider apartment, the apartment is refurbished and has a sea view. The lighthouse is also a cafe with light refreshments.

Are you searching for some speed and excitement consult with Adventure Norway. They offers rafting for old and young and fishing in the Mandal River. Tregde Feriesenter a little over 20 minutes from Mandal, is perfect for an action-packed holiday or quiet escape at any time of year.

The good experiences

Tregde Feriesenter is situated by the sea, and the resort offers boat trips to islands adventures, where you can dive, go fishing, cruising or kayaking

The resort has an outdoor swimming pool that is perfect for a little swim or play, and in the restaurant you can enjoy a good meal on the waterfront. Tregde Feriesentre offers high speed ribb trips to Ryvingen Lighthouse, here various activities such as abseiling can be arranged It is also possible to stay overnight at Ryvingen Lighthouse.

Accommodation

Other accomodation can be found in the center of Mandal. First Hotel Solborg, Hald Pensjonat and venerable Kjøbmandsgaarden Hotel located in a Grade II listed wooden building from the 1800s are good options for a good night´s sleep in town.
