Selected campsites in Southern Norway

Camping and caravanning in the South of Norway. A guide to camping in Norway. This is an overview of the best campgrounds in Southern Norway.

Several of the camping grounds in this part of the country have won national awards, and the largest tabloid paper in Norway appointed Norway's three best camping grounds in 2010: Skottevik Camping (Lillesand), Kristiansand Feriesenter Camping (Kristiansand) and Moysand Camping (Grimstad) were the top three camping grounds in this paper's informal test of Norway's best sites, and they are all located in the south.

Our assertion is that there are several camping grounds in this region that could easily make the top of this list, together with these three sites mentioned above.

The largest camping grounds in Southern Norway can accept guests throughout the season. They have a wide selection of accommodation alternatives, whether you have a tent, a camper, a caravan, or you need to rent a room, a cabin or an apartment for the night.

Best and largest camping grounds in Southern Norway

Most camping grounds are along the coastline, with their own beach and the skerries just outside. Playgrounds, swimming pool, and a short distance to picturesque southern towns are parts of the experience.

A selection of the camping grounds are more secluded from the coastline. Here things are moving at a slow pace, the air is comfortably cool in the summertime, and you can get closer to both elk and beaver. These are perfect stops on travels to or from the coastline, and not to mention the choice for those who wish to paddle in a calm mountain lake, pick blueberries in the woods or search for the king of the forest in the summer night.
