The right of access

What about pitching your tent far away from it all high on a mountain in Northern Norway, or parking your caravan at a campsite beside a beach somewhere along the south coast? Thanks to the right of access regulation ("allemannsretten"), you can camp almost everywhere in the open countryside.

Or rent a cabin, close to the action of, for instance, the capital town of Oslo? The options are many, thanks to Norway’s many campsites and its laws allowing tenting in the wilderness.

Summer and winter

Camping holidays in Norway have traditionally been a summer pleasure and the vast majority of people actually visit the campsites during the summer months. But many campsites are open in the winter, and a growing number of campers wish to camp all year round.

Caravans and mobile homes

Caravans are now so well insulated that the cold is no longer a problem in the winter months, and many of the campsites which are open in the winter have heated cabins that you can rent.

A variety of camp sites

Norway offers a large variety in campsites, both when it comes to standards and to locations. This allows you to either stay put in one place for your entire holiday or move around. There are sites at the seaside, in the woods, in the mountains and close to city and town centres.
