The northern lights, or Aurora Borealis as it is also called, has always spellbound both locals and visitors to northern latitudes and there are numerous myths associated with the peculiar phenomenon. Alta is well-known as a top location to spot the northern lights – it is no coincidence that the world’s first northern lights’ observatory was built here in 1899.
The northern lights are most frequent in late autumn and winter/early spring.
Take the opportunity to learn more about the lights on your business visit. The evening is spent at Pæskatun, where your host Trond will take you through the fascinating history of the northern lights in Alta. You will also see many remarkable pictures and a film.
Afterwards, you are transported back to your hotel where you will be served a superb dinner typical of the area of Finnmark.
