The hotel is situated in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta River, 15 kilometres from Alta city centre. It measures 1,600 square metres. The entire exterior and interior is made of snow and ice, including the rooms, the beds and even the glasses in the bar! The hotel is decorated with exquisite ice-sculptures, which together with the pure white snow create a fairytale atmosphere.
The winter months can be cold on the banks of the river, but the temperature inside the igloo remains constant between -3 and -7 degrees Celsius. On arrival the group will enjoy a welcome drink (in a glass made of ice) before going next door to the mini spa area to enjoy the hot sauna and outdoor hot tub.
Dinner is served in the restaurant Laksestua situated next door to the ice hotel. This is housed in a beautiful wooden building in the shape of a Sámi Lavvu.
After dinner a warm sleeping bag will be provided before guests retreat to their icy chamber for a refreshing night's sleep. Thanks to natural reindeer-hide mattresses and thermal sleeping bags, guests will be kept warm and enjoy a comfortable night.
If the weather is clear the group will go hunting for the spectacular Northern Lights before heading off to bed.
