Special venues in Trondheim

Trondheim has a range of special conference venues, from cosy places in the forest to grand concert arenas and the medieval Nidaros Cathedral.



 Deep in the forest, but only 15 minutes from central Trondheim, you will find the charming venue Skistua. It is perfect for smaller meetings and events, and can be combined with fun team building activities in the woods, both summer and winter. You can also hire cross-country skis at Skistua (website in Norwegian).

Maximum capacity: 100 people

The Nidaros Cathedral

The mighty, medieval Nidaros Cathedral is used regularly for opening ceremonies and concerts. The mayor of Trondheim invites all international conferences to a complimentary concert at the cathedral. Please submit a Request for proposal on the right hand side for more information about the free concert.

Maximum capacity: 1,200 people

Olavshallen Concert Theatre

Trondheim’s largest concert hall Olavshallen Concert Theatre is available for conferences and private concerts.

Maximum capacity: 1,250 people

Dokkhuset Scene

This jazz and chamber music venue has a roof terrace with a splendid view of the fjord. Both private concerts and other events are suitable for Dokkhuset Scene.

Maximum capacity: 220 people


Another concert hall, located in the city centre, is Byscenen (website in Norwegian). Apart from music events and concerts, it can be used for catering for groups between 100 and 400 people – whether you want an informal buffet or a seven course dinner.

Maximum capacity: 600 (standing) or 400 (seated).

Rosenborg Arena

For the biggest outdoors events, the Rosenborg Arena, a subsidiary company of Rosenborg Football Club, is available.

Maximum capacity: 20,000 people


Another venue in the forest is Liantunet, with a restaurant serving local food and a meeting room suitable for all types of events from conferences to weddings. The surrounding forest can be used for outdoor activities and picnics. You can reach Liantunet by tram from central Trondheim.

Maximum capacity: around 100 people (theatre style)

University events

In the summer, events connected to the university may make use of the auditorium, exhibition space and meeting rooms.
