Norway in a nutshell® – see this small, but great country

Norway in a nutshell® is the most popular round trip in Norway, and can be taken from Voss, Bergen or Oslo. This unique tour includes some of the most beautiful scenery in Fjord Norway such as Northern Europe’s highest railway, the Bergen Railway, the breathtaking Flåm Railway, the narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord (on UNESCO’s World Heritage List) and the steep Stalheimskleiva Road. The Sognefjord in a nutshell – huge fjord, huge experience

The Sognefjord is Norway's longest and deepest fjord and stretches more than 200 kilometres inwards to the foot of the Jotunheimen Mountains. The dramatic and friendly landscape claims to be one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. The Sognefjord in a nutshell round trip combines a beautiful boat journey on the Sognefjord, with a spectacular train journey on the Flåm Railway.

Explore more of the Sognefjord area and extend your trip with a visit to the narrow Dalsfjord and the Gaularfjell Mountain, also known as the "Waterfall Country" (available from 15 May to 31 August). This round trip is available from both Bergen and Oslo.

Season: 1 May – 30 September.

The Lysefjord and Norway in a nutshell® – wild and beautiful

This tour includes the popular Norway in a nutshell® trip, which takes you on a fantastic journey from Oslo to Bergen. You travel through wild and beautiful coastal scenery between the World Heritage City of Bergen to the oil city of Stavanger.

Stavanger is the starting point for one of the highlights of the tour, a fjord cruise on the magnificent Lysefjord with the overhanging mountain plateau Preikestolen (the Pulpit Rock) towering 604 metres above the fjord as a natural highlight.

Season: 1 May – 30 September.

Geiranger & Norway in a nutshell® – a taste of World Heritage

This round trip takes you to Norway's two most beautiful fjords, the Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord; both included on UNESCO's World Heritage List. You will experience the Rauma Railway with Kylling Bridge and the cliff face of Trollveggen, the Jugend city of Ålesund, a journey with Hurtigruten (the Norwegian Coastal Voyage) to the magical Geirangerfjord, and the popular Norway in a nutshell® trip from Bergen to Oslo.

Hardanger in a nutshell – a taste of fruit and fjord

If the Sognefjord is called the King among the fjords of Western Norway, the Hardangerfjord is the Queen. The 179-kilometre long fjord provides natural landscapes that are spellbinding to even the most well-travelled tourist. Here you will find cultural and natural pearls side by side.

The round trip Hardanger in a nutshell includes a bus and train ride with a beautiful boat trip on the Hardangerfjord. If you are lucky enough to be here in May, you can enjoy the fantastic fruit blossoming.

Hurtigruten (the Norwegian Coastal Voyage) and Norway in a nutshell® – a complete Norwegian holiday

This is one of the best combinations for experiencing Norway. The Hurtigruten (the Norwegian Coastal Voyage) and Norway in a nutshell® round trip includes a comfortable train journey on the Dovrebanen Railway from Oslo to Trondheim, and a voyage with one of the Hurtigruten ships from Trondheim to Bergen.

To make the experience complete, you take the Norway in a nutshell® round trip on your way back to Oslo.

Rallarvegen (the Navvies' Road) – in the navvies' footsteps

Rallarvegen is one of the most scenic cycle rides from "the roof of Norway" right down to the fjord - quite an experience. As the name suggests, Rallarvegen dates from the time the navvies used it as a road during the construction of the Bergen Railway.

The Rallarvegen holiday package includes a journey with the Bergen Railway from Bergen or Oslo to Haugastøl or Finse, cycle hire for two days, a ride with the Flåm Railway and return with the Bergen Railway from Myrdal to Bergen or Oslo.

Season: Mid-July to end-September (subject to snow-free road conditions).
