Eating in Trondheim

A vast choice of eateries

In Trondheim you will find the hotel that has won the award for best breakfast in Norway six years in a row, and you will also find several first-class restaurants, including Credo, Glassgården Brasserie and Grill, Havfruen  and To Rom & Kjøkken.

There are, in fact, an exceptionally large number of eating places, pubs and bars in Trondheim in relation to the city's size. Exclusive or cheap, family restaurants or fast food eateries and cafés - in Trondheim, everyone will find food and drink to suit their budget, their appetite or their style.

Some of the establishments concentrate on local food and ingredients, while others offer tasty morsels from all over the world. You will also find traditional Norwegian dishes here. Most of the restaurants are located in the city centre or in Solsiden, east of the Nidelva River.

Food festival and markets

Trøndersk Matfestival (Food Festival) is arranged every year in late July / early August, at the same time as the Olavsfestdagene Festival.

Ravnkloa is the city fish market where you will find fresh fish and other seafood. You can also buy a variety of delicious dishes for a buffet.

In summer, the marketplace, Torvet, is full of fruit and vegetables from the surrounding area - strawberries from Trøndelag are a favourite.
