Food and drink from Sør-Hedmark

Sør-Hedmark's food traditions are based on local ingredients such as fish, wild game and berries, but a more exclusive cuisine is also available.

Skaslien Gjestgiveri

Skaslien Gjestgiveri is a renowned guest house and restaurant, located in the heart of Hedmark and only a short drive from Oslo. Guests are treated to a rare combination of a homely atmosphere, an award-winning kitchen and hosts "doing that little bit extra".

In the restaurant, focus is on the culinary experience and Norwegian food culture, with a varied menu comprising local dishes from Finnskogen and Solør as well as gastronomic delights based on Norwegian ingredients and with an international flare.

Its accolades are many, and include the 2010 Travel Industry Award for Hedmark as well as the regional "Ganefart" award as Best Roadside Restaurant in 2008. Skaslien Gjestgiveri was voted Norway's best restaurant by the Professional Forum for Food and Beverage in 2002, and has also been endorsed with the Norwegian Foodprints mark of quality.

Milepelen Vertshus

Milepelen Vertshus is set in a beautiful location where the Sandsåa river meets lake Storsjøen in Nord-Odal. The venue is ideal for meetings, gatherings, luncheons and family functions, or just a quick coffee or an evening meal.

Milepelen is renowned for its excellent food, and is a quality catering services provider. The menu is varied, and comprises dishes of a modern character and flavour as well as traditional Odal food such as meatballs, fish soufflé, fricadellen and cured pork in an onion and sour cream sauce. Milepelen offers function rooms ideal for small as well as large gatherings. Storsalen has a seating capacity of 200 guests.

Sanngrund

Sanngrund is situated just off the E16 on the county border of Akershus and Hedmark, and offers seating for 200 guests in its newly refurbished cafeteria and function rooms.

All events are catered for, and the food served at Sanngrund Camping is based on the very best ingredients. Dishes are always prepared with organic eggs, fresh vegetables, hand-peeled almond potatoes and homemade gravy.

Slobrua Gjestegård

Slobrua Gjestegård is situated just off the E16, between Skarnes and Kongsvinger - only an hour's drive from Oslo. Next door is the welcoming Skarnes Lekeland family park. This fully refurbished venue comprises a café, function rooms and a motel. The café can cater for 100 guests, and serves traditional Norwegian food. Slobrua Gjestegård offers a buffet breakfast, lunch and evening meals. All food is prepared from scratch, and cakes are baked locally at Slobrua Gjestegård. Almost all of its homemade food is allergy-friendly, i.e. gluten free, lactose free and so on.

De 4 Årstider

The restaurant "De 4 Årstider" is located next door to Magnor Glassworks at Magnor in the municipality of Eidskog, and offers a friendly atmosphere with focus on local cuisine. Enjoy delicious, varied lunch dishes based on the season's ingredients. The restaurant is open on weekdays and Saturdays.
