Horten offers a great variety of leisure activities, including golf, diving, fishing, swimming, riding and more.

Golf

Diving

Løvøya is a very popular diving site in the Oslofjord area. There are walls and overhangs here, and a rich animal life under water. Horten Diver Club and Færder Diving Club are active locally.

Fishing

Sea-fishing: There are many good fishing spots around Horten, whether you want to fish from a boat or from land. Løvøya, Bastøykalven and Åsgårdstrand are highly recommended areas. Get some local advice at the tourist information office.

Freshwater-fishing: Borre Lake is a good spot that offers a variety of fish - nine species have been registered here. You will find information about how to obtain a fishing permit at the fishing spots.

Swimming

There is no shortage of places to swim in Horten, from small, quiet coves to substantial beaches popular with surfers and kiters. Should the weather not be at its best, a newly renovated indoor swimming pool, Horten Svømmehall, can be found in the centre of Horten.

Skateboarding

Horten has one of Norway's most popular and best outdoor skateboarding parks – Horten Skate Park. Every year the "Kanalsession" takes place here, attracting thousands of spectators, as well as top skaters from all over Norway and abroad. Pros skate together with amateurs and beginners. The park is open for everyone most of the year.

Riding

If you want to explore the district by bike, you can rent a bike at several depots in and around Horten. At the tourist information you can rent bikes for both adults and children.
