Getting to the Lillehammer Region

The Lillehammer Region is located along the E6, around 180 kilometres north of Oslo, and is easy to reach by car, train or bus.

The most convenient way to get around within the Lillehammer Region is by car, but bicycle, bus and train are satisfactory alternatives. Lillehammer Skysstasjon is the main terminal for buses, trains and taxis. Further north in Gudbrandsdalen, the main hubs are Ringebu Skysstasjon and Vinstra Skysstasjon. The E6 (the main north-south artery in Norway) runs through Lillehammer and Gudbrandsdalen. Lillehammer is located around two and a half hours from Oslo, five hours from Trondheim and five hours from Ålesund. Lillehammer is the end station for the regional train service between Skien/Oslo/Gardermoen/Lillehammer, and is also a stop on the Dovre Line

By air

Oslo Airport Gardermoen is within a two hours' drive from Lillehammer. The Dovre Line, and all other trains between Oslo and Lillehammer, stop at Gardermoen. There is also a bus connection from Oslo Airport Gardermoen to Lillehammer and Gudbrandsdalen.

By train

The regional train service between Oslo and Lillehammer runs 12 to 20 times daily. The Dovre Line stops in Lillehammer and offers three daily services northbound to Trondheim.

By bus

Bus services to/from and in the Lillehammer Region:

There are frequent bus services from Lillehammer town centre to most of the region's attractions, and regular connections to Oslo, Trondheim and Bergen. In the winters there is a shuttle service from Lillehammer to Hafjell and from Skeikampen to Nordseter/Sjusjøen. There is also a bicycle and family shuttle to Hunderfossen and Hafjell.
