Shopping in the Lillehammer Region

Lillehammer's famous pedestrian precinct

The charming wooden buildings comprise a multitude of speciality shops with products you do not usually find on the high street. Visit Lunula, which was voted Fashion Shop of the Year during Oslo Fashion Awards in 2012, or Husfliden Lillehammer, whose quality products are based on old handicraft traditions. Most shops in Lillehammer town centre are within walking distance of Storgata, and shopping can easily be combined with a visit to a museum or café. The main museums also have their own shops with unique items.

Art and handicraft

Lillehammer is known as a town of artists, and has a vibrant creative sector. Several members of this community are located at Fabrikken in the heart of Lillehammer – an old factory which today comprises workshops, outlets, offices and ateliers used by a number of small enterprises. Visitors can watch the artists in action and purchase unique products. Glassblowing at Hett Glass, for example, is an experience not to be missed.

Strandtorget shopping centre

If you prefer shopping centres, you will find no less than 65 shops at Strandtorget. The centre is located along the E6 by the turn-off to Lillehammer and is easily accessible by car.

Local shopping centres in Gudbrandsdalen

Shopping centres with food stores, sports outlets and other retailers are available at the following locations: Segalstad Bru in Gausdal, Øyer, Ringebu/Fåvang in Ringebu municipality and Vinstra in Nord-Fron municipality.

Sports and outdoor life

With many large sporting events and high number of active visitors, Lillehammer is the ideal place to shop for sports equipment. Sports outlets can be found at several of the ski resorts, and a number of retailers are located in Lillehammer. Sport1 by Stortorget is a ski and bicycle expert, whereas G-Sport Rustadstuen at Storgata is the local fishing specialist. Fishing licences and equipment are available for purchase, and useful tips and good stories are part of the package.
